Goalie

Clearing Relay

Players line up in all four corners of the box with goalies at both sides in between the lines . At the same time, players to the left of each goalie sprint upfield and receive an outlet pass from the goalie over the shoulder and sprint through the other side and get in line. Drill moves continuously with goalies throwing back and forth. Emphasize catching on the run, crisp outlet passes, quick ball movement, and catching over the shoulder..

W Clearing Warm up

Working on clears, defense getting stopped, then moving back through the goalie to reverse the field. Setup: two lines of defenders behind goal, two defenders are in at a time. \ \ When goalie yells clear, both defenders cut up and out asking for the pass. \ Goalie passes to either side, that player runs up to the cones and has to turn back as if that were an attacker on the ride. At this point, goalie has walked up past the 8m and now is there to help reverse the field and receive the pass to then send to the other player on the other side. That player then runs through their cones. Coaching Points: Turn before the "attack" reaches you. (can add two dummy attackers for effect). Reminder, if we see two attackers closing in, we reverse the field. Make sure we are protecting our sticks as we turn to reverse the field. \ \ Adjustments: Have dummy attackers follow at 70-80% after hitting the cone.

Chaos Shuttles

set up similar to normal shuttle lines, lines on the outside pass to each other whereas the inside line passes normally. Causes congestion in the middle, players can practice dodging, waiting and communication. Progression: start with quick sticks, normal shuttles, move to chaos- Right, left, Switches, offside, GBs

Stickwork

Post Up 1v1

Work on attacking with your back to the cage in a 1v1 setup. Start with the ball entering the 8-meter; the player posts up using elbows, body, and footwork to shield the defender and create space. Incorporate jab steps, body fakes, and shoulder fakes to initiate contact and open shot opportunities. As skills progress, add the four perimeter players for full 5v5 simulation, emphasizing vision, timing, and decision-making under a shot clock.

ShootingDodging

4v4

Work 4v4 situations in the attack zone. 4 offensive players vs 4 defenders. Coach starts play with a ground ball or pass. Play until a goal, save, clear, or whistle. Variation: Defense clears all saves or takeaways out of the box. Add passing requirements or other skill constraints.

Competition

Protect the Cone

- Players start back to back on the middle cone - Players run to touch their cone then return facing each other in the middle - The defender (O) has to try to keep the attacker (X) from touching or picking up their cone - Start without sticks, then can add a ball to the attackers stick and end with a shot
