How can we help you?
Get started with PrakticePlan and learn how to make the most of your practice planning.
Getting Started
You can build a full plan without any drills saved first:
- Click New Plan from your dashboard
- Open the drill picker and use the Community tab to search every public drill, then drop drills straight into your plan
- Drag and drop to reorder and set durations for each drill
- Click Save when ready
If you already have your own drills, you can create them with New Drill, bring them in with Import (PDFs, photos, links, or notes), or copy community drills you plan to reuse into your library.
Progress is saved automatically as you work.
There are two ways to copy drills from the community library:
- One-click copy - instantly saves the drill as-is to your library
- Customize before saving - lets you edit the drill details before adding it to your library
When you're viewing any community drill's details, Save to My Library (and Copy to Team on the Team plan) sits right at the bottom of the panel.
You can also create your own drills from scratch with New Drill, or bring in the drills you already have with Import - PDFs, photos, links, or pasted notes.
Free accounts can save unlimited drills and export unlimited practice plans. Paid plans add your own logo and colors to every export.
Practice Plans
Live plan links are free on every plan. Instead of exporting a static file, you generate one private link for a plan and text it to your staff once.
- The link always shows the latest version of that plan, so a last-minute change reaches everyone automatically
- During practice it follows the clock and highlights the current drill
- Your coaches open it on any phone with no account or app needed
To create one, open a plan, click the Export menu, and choose Copy live link. Send that link to your staff. You can revoke it anytime from the same menu.
Season Schedule & Calendar
Open Plans and switch to the calendar view. You can work in a week or month layout:
- Hover any day and click + Plan to build a practice for that date
- Drag a plan onto a day to schedule it, or between days to reschedule
- Plans without a date sit in the Undated strip at the top; drag one onto a day to schedule it, or drag a dated plan back to the strip to remove its date
The calendar remembers whether you prefer week or month view.
If your team's schedule already lives in another app, you don't have to retype it. Any app that gives you a calendar link (iCal/.ics) works:
- Copy the calendar link from the app your league or club uses
- In PrakticePlan, click Import schedule on the plans calendar (or go to Settings → Schedule)
- Paste the link. We show you exactly which practices and games we found before anything imports
After that it stays in sync on its own: when the schedule changes in the other app, the calendar picks it up. You can import more than one calendar (for example JV and Varsity) and filter the view by team.
Schedule import is included on Pro, Team, and Club plans.
Every imported practice and game shows whether that day is covered:
- Amber - an upcoming event with no plan yet, your to-do
- Teal - a plan exists for that day, you're ready
- Gray - the day passed without a plan
The scoreboard above the calendar sums it up ("4 of 6 events have plans"), and clicking it jumps you to the next day that needs one. If an event will never need a plan, like a team dinner, open it and choose Ignore so it stops counting.
Imported calendars belong to the team, so every coach on your staff sees the same schedule and coverage on their own plans calendar. Adding or removing calendars is up to the team's admins, under Settings → Schedule.
The calendar link itself stays private to whoever pasted it; other coaches only ever see the events.
Drills & Organization
Go to Library → Private and click Import. You can bring drills in from wherever you keep them:
- PDFs - drop in a practice plan or drill packet (up to 25MB; the first 20 pages are read) and each drill becomes its own entry
- Photos - a picture of a drill sheet or whiteboard works, PNG or JPG
- Links - paste a YouTube video or a written drill page. Social videos (Instagram, TikTok) can't be read; copy the drill text and paste that instead
- Notes - paste text straight from your phone or a doc
You can drag files anywhere into the import window. Everything found lands in a review list where you can edit titles, descriptions, durations, and tags before anything saves. If a drill looks like one you already have, it's flagged so you don't end up with doubles.
You can also start a single drill from a source: the New Drill form has a "Start from a link, photo, or notes" box that fills the form in for you.
Go to Library → Private and click New Drill. Then:
- Fill in the drill name, description, age-levels, and any other helpful information to search by, or use Start from a link, photo, or notes at the top to fill the form from a source
- Add diagrams using the built-in diagram editor, attach a link (YouTube, Instagram, or any website), or upload existing media
- Click Save Drill to add it to your library
Your progress is saved automatically as you type, so nothing is lost if you navigate away before saving.
Yes. Tap Select in your library or plans to work with multiple drills at once. From there you can:
- Add several drills to a plan in one step
- Move them to a folder
- Delete them in bulk
In the community library, you can also save a whole batch of drills to your own library in one tap.
PrakticePlan includes a built-in diagram editor powered by Excalidraw so you can create professional drill diagrams without any external tools.
To create a diagram:
- When creating a drill, the canvas sits right beside the form
- Choose a template: Full Field, Half Field, or Blank Canvas
- Use the drawing tools to add players, movement arrows, equipment, and text
- Your drawing is saved as the drill's image automatically when you save the drill
Tips:
- Use different colors/letters to represent offense vs defense or different player groups
- Add solid arrows to show player movement
- Add dotted arrows to show ball movement
- Double-click on arrows to add text labels or order of events
- Include text directly in the diagram for more clarity
- Diagrams are saved as high-resolution images that look great in drill exports
Teams & Coaching Staff
The Team plan is built for a whole coaching staff. It is everything in Pro with 5 coach seats instead of 2, so youth through varsity can work from one library:
- A shared drill library everyone can pull from
- Shared practice plans your staff can open and run
- Drill locking so admins can standardize how a drill is run
- Your branding on every coach's exports
- Room for volunteers and parent coaches
It's $12/month with the Season Pass ($72 every 6 months) or $15/month billed monthly. See the pricing page for full details.
Use Add a coach in the sidebar, or go to Settings → Team. You can send each coach an email invitation, or create a join link and drop it straight into your staff group chat. Either way, they click the link, create or sign in to their account, and they're added to your team automatically.
Pro includes 2 coach seats and Team includes 5. When a coach leaves, their seat opens up so you can invite a replacement, and they keep their own personal drills and plans.
