Rapid Fire Corners
Set two lines at goal line extended with balls at both spots. Line 1 drives upfield, rolls off pressure, and feeds Line 2 cutting off the mirror side. Line 2 catches in stride and shoots on the run. After each rep, rotate sides quickly to keep pace. Focus on timing cuts, quick ball movement, and finishing with both hands under pressure.
Perfect passing
This is an upgrade to the traditional shuttle line drill. This is an uptempo, energetic stick work drill. It is a timed drill that has 4-7 sequences. Set Up: Break into two groups of 5 or 6 players. Place 2 cones 10-15 yards apart: 10 yards to focus on short passes, 15 yards for longer passes. 1 player will stand at one cone with 5 balls, this cone is called the Post. The other 4/5 players will stand single file behind the other cone. Sequence #1 - All Right handed passes - Timing: 45 seconds to 1 minute. Post player starts with the ball - this player is working on precision passing and timing of the pass. The group cone has one play hard cut towards the post, catches with her right hand while running and throws back to Post while running. She then pivots, turns and hustles back to the end of the line. This is continuous for 45seconds to 1 min. When time is up, blow your whistle, switch the post player, do a ball retrieval for any missed passes and provide around 30 second
Shuffle Partner Passing
Players line up 10 yards apart in the alleys and work with a partner, shuffling down the sideline to develop stick skills on the run. If age and skill allow for it, players should keep their stick up field, one line right hand, one line left hand.
Clearing Relay
Players line up in all four corners of the box with goalies at both sides in between the lines . At the same time, players to the left of each goalie sprint upfield and receive an outlet pass from the goalie over the shoulder and sprint through the other side and get in line. Drill moves continuously with goalies throwing back and forth. Emphasize catching on the run, crisp outlet passes, quick ball movement, and catching over the shoulder..
Three Wide Offensive Drill
3-line setup along restraining line. Player 1 throws ball toward endline, sprints to scoop ground ball, makes big turn. Player 2 vacates crease as outlet, receives pass. Player 3 makes jab step then jump cut to vacated crease space. Player 2 feeds cutting player for shot. Sequence: ground ball → outlet pass → jump cut → feed → finish. Emphasizes ball movement, spacing, anticipation, finishing without goalie.
One-Handed Shooting
Set players in a line with a feeder near the goal. Player A cuts along a designated lane, receiving a timed pass from the feeder while practicing quick footwork and cradle. They catch, absorb momentum, and execute a one-handed shot with proper rotation. After shooting, they rotate to the end or a recovery spot. Player B begins their cut as Player A finishes, creating continuous flow.
Scoring from X
Set up a goal with a high-crease goalie. Players practice a sequence of 3–4 dodges—split, co-dodge, hesitation—then turn the corner toward the goal. Focus on precise footwork, stick positioning, and quick execution on each move. Incorporate a short final shot under simulated goalie pressure. Emphasize game-like speed and technique over repetition, ensuring each dodge and shot is clean, controlled, and consistent before moving to the next rep.
4 Corner Over-The-Shoulder
Set four cones in a square with 3+ players at each corner. Start with one ball: Player 1 catches over the left shoulder, switches hands, and passes to the next corner in a counterclockwise rotation. Midway, reverse direction. Add balls as skill allows. On a “break” call, roll a ground ball upfield for players to scoop and pass. Emphasize leading teammates, catching on the run, and strong/weak hand throws.
3v2 to 4v3
Set three offensive players (Player 1–3) behind the goal with balls and two defensive players (Player 4–5) up top. On the whistle, Player 1–3 attack the 3v2. On a goal, save, or stoppage, the next two defenders (Player 6–7) enter with a ball to create a 4v3, while the first two defenders stay. Offense rotates out and three new players enter to start a new 3v2. Continue rotations, switching players from bottom to top every 4–5 minutes.
2v2 Drill
Set up two offensive players and two defenders in the attack zone. Coach starts with a pass to offense. Offense works quick passes and dodging to create shooting lanes. Defenders communicate, slide as needed, and force low-percentage shots. Play continues until a goal, save, clear, or whistle. Emphasize positioning, timing, and reading the defense.
2v1 Drill
Play 2v1 in the attack zone. Coach starts with a ground ball or pass. Offense works quick ball movement and stick handling to create scoring opportunities, while the defender practices positioning and slides. Play continues until a goal, save, clear, or whistle. Focus on decision-making under pressure.
Overs with Rollaway
Over passes with a partner. Each partner will catch the over pass then roll away from pressure, change hands (optional, but encouraged) and throw an over pass.
