Set up two boxes that share one side (change the size of the boxes depending on what you're working on or to challenge your players). 4 "Attackers" inside one box and a line of "defenders" waiting to go in. Can also be team 1 versus team 2 instead of straight defenders or straight attackers. Goal: X should be passing around. For every pass, a new defender comes in until its a 4v3. X should be counting passes. O wants to get a turnover or interception, if and when they do, O carries it to their box to be that 4th attacker on their side and they start passing around. Whole thing repeats until X gets a turnover/interception and then they pick up counting where they left off. Drill finishes when one team hits the # of passes.

Partner Passing
Players line up 10 yards apart and work with a partner, moving through a series of passing progressions to develop stick skills. The progression includes: - One-handed passes, right hand - One-handed passes, left hand - Two-handed passes, right hand - Two-handed passes, left hand - Cross-armed passes, right hand - Cross-armed passes, left hand - Catch right, throw left - Catch left, throw right Continue to add or remove progressions as necessary based on skill level.
Star Passing
Players form a 5-point star around the restraining line. Start with one ball and pass diagonally across the star, emphasizing long, accurate passes and quick recognition of teammates. Focus on catching cleanly, stepping into passes, and maintaining proper spacing. Add multiple balls to increase pace and challenge awareness, reaction time, and decision-making while keeping players in correct star positions throughout the drill.
Line Drills
Two lines face each other, the player at the head of one line has the ball. The first two players in each line run towards each other and the player with the ball passes to the other. When the ball is received, the next player in the first line comes out and the ball is passed again. After each player's turn is finished, they run to the end of the line to which they threw. Variations: Add defense. After a player passes the ball, he immediately plays defense against the person he threw to. - Underhand throws. - Ground balls - Left-handed - Make more than one set of lines doing the drill with 6 players to a set.
Partner Passing on the Run
Split into pairs. Players will partner pass to the cone and then back. Focusing on passing and catching while moving.
Pick and Roll
Teach pick-and-roll mechanics in the offensive zone. Set up 4 cones — two up top, two on GLE about 10 yards out. Balls start low with X1, who drives up the lane toward a pick from X2. X2 stays still until X1 passes, then rolls to the goal looking for the feed. X1 keeps moving to create space for the pass. Both sides run simultaneously. Rotate players through each side. Variation: Change pick locations. Add limited defense to work on timing without disrupting flow.
Bears drill
X1 receives pass from goalie then passes to X2 who is already ahead. X2 runs to Half boards (HB). X1 sets pick on invisible defender, opens looking for pass. X2 uses pick and cuts top, passes to X1 for a shot. **Run this with 2 lines at both ends** Evolution: have 2 lines out and a third line on the bench. When X2 passes center, X3 exits front doors and runs in, X2 passes to X3 for a shot. ***Second evolution: coach is in corner and passes to X1 for another shot at goal. Goalie is saving from both sides of court. Coach waits until X3 has released their shot. Goalies need to pay attention.
Over and Down Shooting
Develop ball movement and positioning — move the ball from the top, across and down for a crease finish. 3 lines with cones: one at the top of the box, one at the opposite top, one 3 yards behind GLE. Balls start at the top corner. That player dodges inside, bounces back, and feeds across to the other top line. That player catches and moves it down to the GLE line, who finishes across the crease. Rotate counter-clockwise. Variation: Switch sides. Designate the shooter. Add defense.
Statue of Liberty
Place your hand on the bottom of your stick and extend your arm fully into the air above your head. Cradle one hand above your head. To make easier, raise your hand higher on the stick. To make harder, lower your hand. You can also do two sticks at a time - one in each hand.
